About Us
North Island Power & Utility Inc (Formerly Tex Electric Ltd) is a locally owned and operated power and utility contractor local to Port Hardy. We operate on the traditional territories of the Kwak`waka`wakw people. With gratitude and respect, we acknowledge the land and the graciousness of the Kwak`waka`wakw people for allowing us to operate in their territories. At North Island Power & Utility, we strive to train and employ individuals local to the North Island and value the importance of diversity. Our crew is comprised of indigenous and non-indigenous ancestry, including Kwakiutl, Checleseht, Cowichan, Métis, and European settler.
We currently service and maintain the vast majority of the North Island's industrial electrical and high voltage infrastructure including; private power lines, substations, and medium to high voltage switch gear. We have a 24/7 on call crew of industrial electricians, power line technicians, and high voltage technologists. We are very proud to be apart of the North Island and giving back to the community every chance we can is of high importance to us.
